My shins are killin' me. In addition to my workout yesterday, I ran 1.5 miles in 20 minutes. It was a slow pace and I walked for about 10 minutes of that. (Peak was 7 miles an hour.) This was immediately AFTER my 35 minute workout.

I want to build that lean muscle and I know running will do that. I guess I have to start enjoying running in addition to my normal workout.
My energy has increased since I began this routine a few weeks ago. There is no quantitative measure for me to compare that, but it feels like it has.
I think I've hit a plateau. I know I'm building more muscle, but my weight loss has stopped. (and I've gained 2 lbs.) Do I need more sleep? More water? More exercise?

I guess it means I have to work out some more during the day & increase the intensity of the workout.
My calories are somewhere around 1200-1400 per day. I can't cut them anymore, so I guess I need to increase the intensity of the workout. As Jillian says 'push it till it burns.'

I think you're doing great, and running is an awesome way to lose weight. I'd say not to worry so much about day to day losses and gains since there are so many factors. If you really want to track, you might get a tape measure, which is probably more accurate. Maybe weight yourself once or twice a week instead since now that you're past the initial stage of losing a ton of water weight at the beginning. I think it's just about being consistent- you're not going to lose 10 lbs overnight or whatever, but if you're consistent, the weight will come off. Are you doing ok eating that little? That seems like a pretty low calorie allotment per day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post, Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteI'm not worrying so much about the day to day. It's the overall (weekly, bi-weekly) progress I'm focusing on. With that said, I'm tracking my food intact, calories, fats, etc. on a daily basis so I can find any patterns. The small updates aren't 'getting me down' --- For example, today I'm the same weight I was yesterday... Even though i worked out & did extra yesterday (which is what the average person would assume to do), I didn't lose any weight. That's okay with me.
The calorie allotment is working out fine. :-D I don't think it's too low because I have energy during the day & all is feeling well. (it's also what's on the diet.)
